Precision Cutting
Our precision cut-off wheels are optimised for high precision cutting of different materials. They are as thin as possible in relation to the diameter to remove an absolute minimum of material, a critical factor when sectioning expensive materials. Thin cut-off wheels limit the thermal damage and mechanical deformation during cutting. This again reduces the following grinding and polishing time.
Aka-Cut 1000 HV, based on Al2O3, is the optimal choice when cutting ferrous metals with a hardness of 500-1000 HV.
Aka-Cut 700 HV, based on Al2O3, is optimised for cutting ferrous metals with a hardness of 150-700 HV.
Aka-Cut 400 HV, based on SiC, is the best choice when high precision cutting of non-ferrous metals with a hardness of 50-400 HV is required.

Superabrasive cut-off wheels
For materials like ceramics, very hard ferrous metals and plastics, we have a range of superabrasive cut-off wheels. Our diamond cut-off wheels and CBN cut-off wheel provide optimal sectioning, long lifetime and high reproducibility. All our superabrasive cut-off wheels measure 152 x 0.8 x 12.7 mm.
Aka-Cut 50 HV is an electroplated diamond cut-off wheel that is used for soft materials like resin or plastic, e.g. electronic components.
Aka-Cut 1500 HV is a resin bond CBN cut-off wheel for cutting very hard ferrous metals with a hardness of 700-1500 HV.
Aka-Cut 2000 HV is a metal bond diamond cut-off wheel cutting medium hard and brittle ceramics, concrete, rocks, tiles and similar with a hardness above 700 HV.
Aka-Cut 3000 HV is a resin bond diamond cut-off wheel. It is recommended for cutting very hard ceramics like oxides, carbides, nitrides and borides and materials containing large amounts of ceramic in a metal matrix like sintered carbides and powder metallurgy with a hardness above 1500 HV.

Water-Soluble Coolant for Metal Cutting
To obtain the best possible cutting results, an additive for recirculation units should be added. The correct cutting cooling fluid is essential for a good sectioning result.
For the best performance of the cut-off wheel we recommend that you use Aka-Cool, a water-soluble coolant. This coolant ensures that the abrasives used in the cut-off wheels are properly lubricated where the cutting takes place. This means minimum thermal damage of both sample and cut-off wheel and therefore additional lifetime of the cutting wheels. It further protects the cutting machine from corrosion and helps to reduce clogging of the debris in the recirculating cooling unit, thus facilitating cleaning of the tank. 3 – 5% of Aka-Cool is mixed with water for optimum performance. This makes the final liquid a water-based cutting coolant.
